These books were a lot of fun to work on. The authors—a psychologist and a psychiatrist, married to one another—came to me with a series of black & white sketches which they wanted to convert for use in designing two children’s books.
Designing the look and feel
The image collection—sketches in black and white were full of imagination and energy. To adapt them for the books, I created hundreds of layers to convert the elements to vibrant color images to suit the look and feel of each book.
PRogram cover design—Tedxmarin
I was thrilled to be asked to design this program cover which became part of a collection promoting the event and developed to include scrims, ads, and posters on site in May, 2011.
book cover design—The Raised
I read a lot of science fiction when I first got out of college, but not much since then. Having been given this book by a friend, and knowing that the author once worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, I was curious. The premise is delightfully outrageous, but somehow the author makes the “raising” of intelligence among animals tailored and developed according to varied species, combined with the mutual benefit to animals and humans—not just wishfully believable, but inspiring as well. I’m honored to have been asked to work with Merle McKenzie to design the cover.
